Does the Makita DF030DWE have a variable speed trigger?
I have found it has a 2 speed switch on the top, but can you vary the chuck speed via the trigger or is it just on/off?
Also do i need an adaptor to insert a 1/4" screwdriver bit or will it fit directly into the chuck?

I have the Dewalt which is very much like this one. Problem is, the drivers have a chuck that accepts 1/4 octagon shafts like on screwdriver bit sets. You can purchase drill bits with this shaft but they are more expensive. If you are looking for something that will also handle regular round shaft drill bits then you should look at drills. You can still purchase a quick chuck for the bits and most drills come with an adjustable torque and variable speed.
